Alongside our recurring content, which includes event coverage, shoppable guides, and a growing directory of our favorite vendors and venues, we also publish occasional long form content, interviews, and personal essays tied to a selection of themes: craft, hosting, travel, and tradition.

We are actively seeking pitches from contributors of all backgrounds, especially those whose voices are frequently underrepresented in media. We particularly enjoy hearing from writers whose interests, experiences, and areas of expertise originate outside of food or journalism.

We welcome pitches for pieces in any format - Be sure to indicate in the pitch how your piece ties back to the theme.

Essential details:

Send all pitches to stories@careofchan.com with “PITCH: TK” in the subject line. Please include the entire pitch in the body of your email.

Please also include a few sentences about yourself, along with links to relevant work which demonstrate your style and tone.

If your pitch is accepted, we’ll discuss deadlines, scope, and other expectations up front, which will then be outlined in a basic contributor’s agreement.

We appreciate all pitches and aim to respond to each as soon as possible. We are a small team with limited resources, so your patience is greatly appreciated.

Care of Chan is a small, self-funded project. We pay contributing writers competitive rates determined in accordance with the scope of work.
